Are you here to buy your best laptop? By now probably you have heard the term "Ultrabook".
So, what exactly is an Ultrabook and how is it different from a normal laptop?
Intel coined the term back in 2011 to describe a laptop that’s lightweight yet powerful and sleek. Available in a variety of models and sizes, ranging from about 13 to 20 inches, and from about 3 to 18 pounds, these laptops must fit within a very specific weight and size spectrum to be called an Ultrabook.
If you are not an apple fan then Ultrabooks are the best options for you. These laptops are designed to compete with high end laptops including the Macbook air.
They provide great portability and performance. For instance, while netbooks may be extremely portable, there is no question that these same netbooks do not operate at a high performance level. However,Ultrabooks are extremely portable and put in more muscle than that of the typical netbook available on the market today.
They are an excellent choice if portability and design are highly important to your lifestyle. For example, if you love travelling and travel very often, or you use your laptop for blogging or content writing purposes, conduct web research, and perform similar activities an Ultra book is definitely the best way to go.
However, if you require the use of heavy graphics and portability is not a priority for you, it might be in your best interest to consider other options.
So here in TechyFruit, we have overlooked a wide variety of Ultra books and come to our conclusion on our best picks of Ultra books for 2019:
What you will love about it:
The Dell Inspiron 5370 has an Aluminium body that has a premium finish. It is available only in Gold, Silver colors, no black. The build quality is very good and the laptop is sturdy. The metal touch gives a premium look to the laptop which surely will grab a few eyeballs.
Dell 5370 comes with a back-lit keyboard which means typing in low or no light is no more a problem. The track pad is large enough and supports multi-touch gestures. The keys are not very clicky, still you will be enjoying typing on it. Since this is a 13″ inch laptop, you will have some issues initially getting used to typing on this.
This laptop is not ultra thin but surely way better than many other full sized 15.6″ laptops in the market. The laptop is fairly thin but it does feel good in hands. Moreover the laptop weighs just around 1.7 kg. The 13″ screen is a Full HD 1920×1080 screen which is vibrant & does a good job. Being small, thin and light weight, the Dell 5370 is a wonderful companion.
It is powered by the latest 8th gen Intel i5-8550u processor. The u series processors are meant to a be power saving without compromising on the performance. And that is what you will actually experience. The processor is fairly comfortable to handle multiple tasks at one go. For instance switching between Chrome, Photoshop and Android Studio is fairly quick in this particular device. The Intel i5 processor is coupled with a fast 8GB DDR4 RAM which is decent enough to help you get through your daily tasks like watching movies, browsing the web etc.
The laptop comes with a 256GB SSD which can later be upgraded and it is fast. Though it comes with a single partition, you can surely create a new partition with 3rd party tools. The boot time has reduced a lot. Even with Windows Update it doesn’t take much time and is quick to take you to the desktop. Even reading, moving files is quick and much better than what you have seen on the standard Hard Disk.
The best feature of this laptop is the Finger Print scanner. The scanner is embedded underneath the power button. To setup/add finger a print is easy and quick. Just like you setup fingerprint lock on your smart phones, you similarly keep tapping the sensor in different positions to record your impressions. Once you have done, you don’t need to enter the password when you login. Simply touch the power button and you are logged in. This is Windows Hello. The login is super fast and smooth and you can start working the moment you log in. Windows Hello along with the processor and SSD ensures your startup is quick so that you can start working right away.
What you may not like about it:
The battery life could have been better. You would get about 5-6 hours on average.
Not a good option for gamers - This goes without saying, although the CPU is good enough for most games, the iGPU isn't. This laptop simply isn't meant for playing AAA titles and other graphics intensive tasks like video editing.
Thermal design system - Although there were no issues yet, the exterior design for cooling system seemed a bit flawed. There's only one vent on the bottom of the laptop. This means that using the laptop on a bed (or anything that blocks this vent) will definitely cause the laptop to overheat.

What you may not like about it:
It has tight USB ports on left side and needs more force and might damage in long run.
It has no kensigton lock port. This makes it unusable at most offices and workplaces.
It has no Ethernet; Using TP-Link UE300 USB adapter for ethernet which works well.
Sometimes the system gets stuck and the thermals get high which is a matter of concern.
The drivers in website are like a hit or miss. It is tricky to install without setup program. It is recommended to save eSupport folder from the OEM installtion.
Cyberlink apps (Powerdirector, Photo Director) missing from downloads - You can image OEM installation as WIM file and unzip these apps from it after reinstalling Windows 10 freshly.
It has a VGA camera which you cannot expect from such a laptop as you will not be able to enjoy video calling on this laptop.
3.LG ELECTRONICS Gram Core i5 8th gen (8GB/256 GB SSD/Windows 10) Laptop (14.1 inch Thin and Light FHD, Dark Silver) (14Z980-GAH52A2)
What you will love about it:
The LG ELECTRONICS Gram Core laptop weighs a fraction under 1 kg and is super light. It is so light that you can easily pick it up with your two fingers and after putting it inside your bag you will hardly feel as if a laptop has been put inside the bag. It is said to have a perfect ultra portable form you can simply take it to a coffee shop, sit and do whatever you want.
It has a super-thin bezel surrounding the screen, it’s also incredibly compact. Not only does this mean it’s easy to transport, but it’s also refreshing to use a laptop that takes up so little space on my desk. There’s no risk of accidentally knocking over a cup of coffee here.
The full-metal body makes it feel quite premium, and since the device has passed several military standard tests, it will survive quite the battering too. Being shock-resistant, you don’t need to worry if it comes crashing off the desk. This laptop should handle most accidents, whether it involves extreme temperatures, significant vibrations, or being exposed to your dust swamp of a bedroom.
The ultra-skinny bezel, polished finish and silver lettering on the back all combine for a laptop that oozes class. Carrying such a device in an office makes you feel quite classy and out of the box in front of other people having normal odd looking laptops.
It has three USB 3.0 ports (including USB-C), a microSD card reader, a HDMI port and a headphone jack. So there is no Ethernet port, but you can use a USB-C connection instead with the adapter in the box (something you don’t get when you buy a MacBook) so that will reduce your problem.
Though the speakers are on the underside of the laptop still the audio quality is quite good while watching Youtube videos Netflix and Spotify. So, it will be a nice pick for you if you love watching a lot of web series and movies. If you are a headphone user then you can crank up the volume to a decent degree also.
In-spite of being small in size the keyboard has plenty of space in it. The keys are pleasingly chunky in width, with sizeable spacing between each one. You will definitely have no worries about your fingers cramping or accidentally hitting the wrong key. You will have a genuine pleasure while typing in this laptop's keyboard.
The display is punchy and vibrant. If you love watching cartoons especially those animated shows then you would fall in love with this laptop as the colors popped out like they would in a comic book. HD movies will also look fabulous in this device. It offers the most natural and realistic colours. It’s just a little on the cooler side, but that’s barely noticeable to the naked eye.
It is powered by Intel Core i5-8250U processor with a base clock speed of 1.6GHz with a RAM of 8GB, which can be upgraded to a whopping 16GB. There is no need to that. Since you will rarely notice any stuttering, with the laptop speeding through basic tasks with ease.
With the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU, the LG Gram 14Z980 is capable of simple media tasks such as editing photos and videos.
You will also get a 256GB SSD, no matter which model of LG Gram you buy. This isn’t a lot of storage, if you’re a creative professional or a student who likes to save a lot of films onto their laptop, you’ll likely want to buy an external hard drive. On a more positive note, the read/write speeds are pretty decent at 550.6 MB/sec and 504.9 MB/sec respectively.
The device has a battery backup of 12 hours with continuous movie watching or multi-tasking. So if you are working individual especially a content creator like me then this is a must buy for you since you will be getting long hours of battery back up.
What you may not like about it:
The 256GB storage is not enough so you will need an external hard disk to store your large amount of data.
Some of you might be expecting a dedicated GPU at this price which you may not get.
What you will love about it:
The HP Pavilion x360 allows you to enjoy a more immersive viewing experience with the new 5.33 mm micro bezel display which makes the 14 inch screen feel bigger in a slimmer design. You get to enjoy improved connectivity with faster throughput thanks to Wi-Fi supporting gigabit speeds, with 2x2 antenna and Intel Wireless-AC 802.11ac (2x2) Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 Combo.
You can transfer data at high speeds to or from your external storage with this USB-C port. And it’s reversible, so you never have to worry about plugging in upside down.
What you may not like about it:
You can enjoy light gaming and movie watching and the battery life is good enough for light to moderately heavy work.
At a price of Rs 70,000, the laptop feels a bit on the higher side for the given configuration. Yes, you’re getting a 360-degree hinge, but you’re also losing out on the benefits of an SSD and the screen could certainly have been better.
It certainly does not have the most colour-accurate of displays, but it gets the job done, which is the whole point of a display in this category. In everyday use, you will find the display to be adequately bright, if a little dull. The colors also seemed a bit muted.
What you will love about it:
The Acer Swift SF314-52 is the cheapest full metal laptop available in the market. The the underside, the keyboard surround, the lid and even the silvery parts of the area around the screen are all made of aluminium. One of the only non-metal parts on show apart from the keyboard keys is the black part of the hinge you see when using the laptop. It’s plastic.
It looks considerably clean with no flashy textures to make it instantly recognisable, and the black hinge detracts from the all-metal look a little, but it’s fairly attractive regardless.
It is moderately thin and light. It weighs 1.5kg, which is light enough to carry around in a bag all day, but not notable when some 13inch laptops now weigh under a kilogram. Similarly, 18mm thickness is slim but not ultra-slim by current standards if it is compared to other laptops which are now available in the market.
It has a great benefit of being thick. It is able to fit in full-size slots and connectors rather than tiny ones that require adapters for most peripherals. On the right side are a USB 2.0, headphone jack, Kensington lock and full-size SD slot.
On the left side pf the device are the cylindrical power socket and USB 3.0, USB-C 3.1 and full-size HDMI ports. This is a perfect array for most people. There is no Ethernet port, but these are extremely rare in thinner models, and the USB-C 3.1 can take on this role with the right adapter anyway.
A great feature of this laptop is the presence of a fingerprint scanner sits next to the keyboard. This can be used with Windows 10 Hello to let you login with your finger instead of a pin or password. It works reliably most of the time, while in other laptops it often require multiple attempts.
The keyboard which comes with the laptops is a perfect value for money primarily because it is backlit. This makes typing in dark rooms much easier, with sub-key LEDs that shine through the little characters on each key. The keys in the keyboard are good and not too loud either, and has a soft character that’s much nicer to type on for long periods than the ultra-shallow, more clicky keys used in an increasing number of ultra-premium models
Though the track pad is made of solid plastic but when you would use it you would feel it to be quite smooth as if you are wiping on a glass surface. Though most of the plastic track pads create a sort of squeaky creak when your finger’s glide changes direction, but here the feel is very similar to glass.
The display is much better than that of a MacBook Air because it uses a Full HD IPS panel. It’s fairly sharp, and doesn’t have issues with contrast shift from any angle. The contrast is also excellent. At 1051:1, it is better than a lot of other premium laptops. This makes the Acer Swift 3 look punchy, with deep blacks.
The screen has a matt finish, which makes it much better at coping up with reflections than a glossy one. It is not a touchscreen, but the hinge folds a full 180 degrees, so it offers another kind of flexibility. The hinge even opens without causing the base to lift, which is a touch of class rarely found in budget laptops.
It is powered by Intel Core i-series processors and uses a Y-series processor designed to minimize energy use and heat. It also has a battery life up to 9 hours and it should be enough to see you sail through a day’s work unless you start gaming or doing more intensive tasks like processor-heavy image editing.
What you may not like about it:
The finger scanner makes you swipe your digit across a slim sensor which is a bit old fashioned rather than the kind seen on mobile phones.
Sound is fairly thin, with virtually no bass and weak mids. Max volume is limited and at high volume the tone takes on a slightly grating edge, which seems to be down to some off resonances.
What you will love about it:
The Dell Inspiron 7570 has a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS Display with a Narrow Border. You would simply love it on the very first look itself. According to me, The display is Excellent. This is one of it's major attractions. The case is made of aluminum with glass-bead brilliance. It provides good stability and a high-quality appearance. The design is kept nicely modest, only the reflective Dell logo stands out in the center of the top.
You know that speed is the most important factor for a device. No one likes a device which is way too slow or lags while working on a application.Being is powered by Intel Core i7-8550U with an Nvidia GeForce 940MX, 8 GB of working memory, and a potentially fast SSD from Samsung. and it delivers excellent performance speed. With this laptop you can run more than five applications at a time and the majority of them would be IDE’s. You would be impressed with its speed and would rate it an Excellent.
The keyboard which comes with the laptop is pretty simple. Typing with them is simple and straightforward, and the typing noise is also less. Moreover, the layout is extremely clean, and there is plenty of space for all the keys. However, this is due to the fact that there is no number pad.
The speakers are decent for the price at which comes but not that great. But the MaxxAudioPro could boost the audio a lot and could maintain the problem of loudness. The sound is super clear and is above average when it comes to the speakers.
It allows you to transfer files with WiFi and Bluetooth and it is pretty fast. You can transfer files at a much faster rate than most of the other laptops within this range and it will also save your time. It also has three USB 3.0 ports to allow you to transfer your documents and files whenever you want.
It has a battery backup of 4 hours only which is quite standard for most of the laptops which come in a budget price and is sufficient if you are not a heavy laptop user.
What you may not like about it:
The battery life is quite less and definitely not meant for heavy work load. If you are content creator like me then you need to have a high amount of battery backup to keep on writing content or video editing.
This laptop is also not good for gamers. If you want to get the best gaming laptops then kindly overlook the menu and you will find a great list of budget gaming laptops.
What you will love about it:
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 2's lid, a fine piece of aluminum with tight corners and a chrome logo. The lid looks especially neat in our black test unit, though the Alcantara fabric-covered deck looks closer to gray, and I wish it were darker.
In the device you'll find a USB 3.0 port, a Mini DisplayPort (words that take me back to the mid-aughts) and a headphone jack. If you want to use a type-c port in this device then you will need to buy a plug into its proprietary Surface Connector, on the right side of the laptop. This would cost you some extra cash.
The laptop has a brilliant high resolution display and allows you to watch your favorite 4K Youtube videos. Having a brilliant picture quality will leave your jaw on the floor. Water registered in an incredibly tranquil blue, a snake appeared in a vivid, eye-popping shade of green, and you will see an insane amount of detail in its eyes.
You can do the following tasks like Tapping, swiping and doodling on the Surface Laptop 2's touch screen which is speedy and responsive. You will barely see any lag while drawing in Paint 3D, and TweetDeck columns which scrolls smoothly. Edge-swipes from the left and right sides of the screen activated the timeline and control center, respectively, without lag.
The keyboard offers a comfortable typing experience with cushy keys. This makes your typing speed a lot fast. And if you are an accountant or a back office executive working on a lot of data or a programmer who needs to type in a lot of code a very fast rate then this will make your process quite fast by allowing you to type 78 words per minute, coming close to 80 wpm average.
The 4.1 x 2.7-inch glass touchpad in the Surface Laptop 2 offers excellent scrolling and input. Not only will it accurately registeryour clicks as you navigate the desktop, but it will also recognize Windows 10's three-finger app-switching gestures.
The laptop comes with an Intel 8th-Gen Core i5-8250U processor and 8GB of RAM, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 provides enough speed for serious multitasking. You will not even notice a single stutter as you split the screen between a 1080p YouTube video and more than 12 Chrome tabs (including Giphy, TweetDeck and the Google Doc for this review).
The 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD in the Surface Laptop 2 allows you to dupliacte files at a much faster rate and this saves a lot of your precious time. Even the 0.9mp cideo camera on the device is pretty decent.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 lasts long enough that you won't worry about battery life every time you unplug to leave the house. It gives a battery backup up to 9 hours which is more than enough to carry out your daily tasks or even video editing.
What you may not like about it:
The audio quality is fairly average. The speakers did better with the high end of the sound, giving detail to vocals and guitars, but they lacked that strength in the low-end on the bass lines.
The device gets a bit warm after playing some games or watching high resolution videos on it.
Comparing with other devices of this category this laptop is a bit slow, pricey and has no type-c ports on it. Even for getting a different color version you need to pay a hefty sum of money.

It has Bloatware so remove the Asus apps (other than the battery one) and the default antivirus as soon as you get the laptop.
The speakers are not that good so if you are watching movies or videos in a group you will need an extra pair of speakers.

What you may not like about it:
This laptop gets very hot especially when it's charging and this can be uncomfortable for some people.
The trackpad driver is provided by Synaptics and it's okay but there is room for improvement.
Even though it has almost every port and but you know that type C is a universal port but it would have been nice to see HDMI port as it has the space for that.
The webcam quality is very poor. It's like a camera form 2000s.
The screen doesn't get bright enough to use it outdoors. Generally not good if want to work outdoors in your garden.
