5 Reasons Why you need to buy-Best laptops under 20000

Updated: Sep 15, 2019

You have a smartphone which fulfills all your everyday needs. It allows you to take calls, click nice photos , watch movies and videos, play games and lots more. But at some point of time you think that if i had a bigger screen than this then i would sit in a cozy place and watch my favorite Netflix series or play those nice PC games which my phone doesn't support at all.

Now why do we need to upgrade ourselves from a smartphone to a laptop:

  • They have better resell value than mobile phones.

  • Will not get easily damaged like most of the smartphones nowadays which last only for a year or two .

  • Better gaming experience- only if you love to play games.

  • A much bigger screen to watch your favorite video on Netflix and chill.

  • Plenty of software's can be installed to make it reliable for office purposes.

But buying a laptop is definately a difficult task especially if you are on a budget.

So, to make it easy for you we have curated a list of the best laptops under 20000 INR. So that it makes it easy for most of our readers to buy them especially if you are a student.

Also these laptops will serve you the following purposes:

  • Watch favorite movies/ videos.

  • Listen to your favorite songs using the in-built speakers.

  • Play basic games.

  • Carry out your basic office tasks.

  • Surfing the internet with ease- like Facebook, Instagram etc.

  • Performing basic editing of images and videos.

What you will love about it:

  • The Iball Atom Quad Core is made of plastic. It has textured plastic on the top and matte-finished plastic everywhere else along with plenty of flex. Despite the flexing, the laptop doesn’t seem like one that will fall apart any time soon.

  • The keyboard and track pad on the device is actually much better than you would expect at this price segment. For beginners, the keyboard actually feels decent. It is in fact, better than the generic HP and Dell offerings that you would find bundled with uninspired office machines. It's also better than the el-cheapo ones you'd buy off the street for 300 INR.

  • Though the touchpad is very small, but it’s surprisingly responsive and smooth. Two finger scrolling also works beautifully.

  • The laptop is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735F chip (1.83GHz) and this is backed by a measly 2GB of RAM. But you only get 32GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot with support for up to 64GB cards.

  • The screen is an 11.6 inch one with a 1366x768 resolution. We have seen phones with better specs, albeit more expensive than this laptop. But it is pretty decent if you are just upgrading yourself from a phone to a laptop.

  • Connectivity comes in the form of two USB 2.0 ports and one mini-HDMI port. You also get a 3.5mm combo jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 support. This is enough to support your basic connectivity tasks at such an affordable price range.

  • The battery is a 10,000mAh one. The tiny little charger that they bundle is barely larger than the ones that came with the Nokia 1100. But this makes it easy to carry anywhere unlike other laptops with big chargers which need an extra amount of space in your travel bag. It gives a battery back up of 6.5 hours on an average.

  • The screen is only an HD one, but it’s forgivable at this price and the best thing we can say about it is that it gets the job done. It is enough for day-to-day tasks and at this price, that’s what really counts.

  • The audio quality is quite decent at this price segment. Speakers were loud enough to be used comfortably.

What you may not like about it:

  • The 32GB of storage is also severely limiting. You barely get 20GB for your own apps and data and you’ll have to live off pen drives and external storage.

  • The USB slots are so stiff that you might not even want to do that much. Read and write speeds in ideal conditions rarely crossed the 15-20MBps mark for sequential transfers.

  • You can’t open more than a couple of tabs at a time before the CompBook starts struggling and multiple background programs is a strict no no. You do one thing at a time and you better have some patience doing it.

  • Since there is no QuickCharge support and the laptop will take its own sweet time charging up.

What you will love about it:

  • The Asus Vivo Celeron Dual Core is designed to help you be productive all day even when you’re on the move. This compact and lightweight 11.6-inch laptop is powered by the latest Intel® processor and provides up to 10 hours of battery life. And with pre-loaded Windows 10, it offers full compatibility with a wide range of software and peripherals. It’s the best laptop for people on the go.

  • This device offers effortless mobility, thanks to its compact and lightweight design. It has a desktop footprint that’s smaller than an A4 sheet of paper and weighs just 980g, and it’s 3 percent thinner than its predecessor - making it one of the thinnest 11.6-inch laptops available. It’s the perfect take-anywhere laptop that’s always ready to go where your day takes you.

  • It is available in three gorgeous graduated finishes: Star Grey, Petal Pink and Pearl White. Unique hexagonal motifs on the front cover add a distinctive touch of individuality.

  • With its 180° hinge, the VivoBook E12 can be laid flat on the table to share content with friends and colleagues. Its unique, durable hinge design has been subjected to a grueling 20,000 cycles in open-and-close tests.

  • The ASUS Tru2Life Video technology makes any video look amazing. Through intelligent algorithms, it optimizes the sharpness and contrast of every pixel in every frame by 150 percent to produce incredibly vivid and realistic imagery - every time! ASUS Splendid display technology optimizes imagery to provide richer, deeper and more accurate colors - for any type of content. The VivoBook E12 also delivers impressive audio, with dual speakers and ASUS SonicMaster technology for immersive surround-sound.

  • It is powered by the latest Intel processor that delivers class-leading performance for both work and play. It has up to a 1TB HDD*, so there’s more than enough room for your files, music and movie libraries. And with Windows 10, the VivoBook E12 is primed for productivity.

  • The device is designed from the ground up for on-the-go users. It packs up to 10 hours of working time on one charge, so you can work or watch movies without searching for power outlets.

  • It includes dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi for strong, stable signals and fast data transmission speeds. As an added advantage, 802.11ac Wi-Fi is less prone to interference from other wireless devices operating on the same bandwidth.

  • The reversible USB-C (Type-C) port makes it easier to connect devices. USB 3.1 Gen 1 provides super-fast data transfer speeds - making it possible to transfer a 2GB movie to a USB drive in under 2 seconds! For maximum convenience and compatibility, the VivoBook E12 also features two standard USB 3.1 ports and one HDMI port.

  • A full-size, ergonomic keyboard with 1.6mm key travel ensures supreme typing comfort. Typing on a compact device has never been this comfortable. It includes a touchpad that’s typically only found on larger, 14-inch laptops - and it’s 17% larger than touchpads on competing laptops. Designed for extra-sensitive responsiveness, the touchpad includes palm rejection technology with Windows Precision Touchpad that’s driven by an exclusive algorithm. This perfect balance between sensitivity and usability ensures effortless navigation with Windows apps and other features.

What you may not like about it:

  • It is not at all a laggy device but never meant for heavy duty.

  • You need to purchase a screen guard, memory card, pouch extra.

  • You will be getting only 32 GB internal memory of which about 13 GB user available. You are going to run out of space easily.

What you will love about it:

  • The Acer Switch One Atom Quad Core is a convertible laptop. It is like a silent computer with a long battery life and a surprisingly bright, contrast-rich IPS display. The coal-colored case is made almost entirely of plastic. Only the backside of the tablet consists of brushed metal.

  • The device comes with the usual array of connections. The tablet component houses both a micro HDMI port and a micro USB (2.0) port. The keyboard dock is outfitted with another USB 2.0 connection (Type A). The built-in WLAN module contains a Realtek chip (RTL8723BS) that supports the WLAN standards 802.11b/g/n, but not the fast ac standard.

  • The touchscreen supports 10 touchpoints. It functions flawlessly and reacts instantly to input. It can be operated with fingers or an active stylus.

  • The Switch One's IPS panel has stable viewing angles, allowing the user to view the screen content from any perspective. The display's reflective surface is often prohibitive in outdoor use - especially in direct sunlight.

  • The Switch One is powered by a quadcore Intel Atom X5 Z8300(Cherry Trail) processor. The CPU's performance power is sufficient for ordinary office and internet-related applications.

  • The Switch One is passively cooled, meaning there is no fan present to make noise. None of the other components generate background noise either.

What you may not like about it:

  • Limited storage capacity of 32 GB. It means you can only store limited amount of songs, videos, photos and applications.

  • The stereo speakers are housed on the bottom edge of the backside of the tablet. Their maximum volume is fairly low, and they produce a tinny sound that suffers from a serious lack of bass. Users will need to rely on headphones or external speakers for a better auditory experience.

  • It doesnot have any Anti-glare screen. Anti Glare Screen makes viewing a display more pleasant for most people, and reduces eyestrain.

  • Due to the absence of optical drive. You cannot watch movies from DVD Drive by putting it into laptop's Optical Drive slot directly.

  • Due to the absence of a VGA port you cannot connect to external multimedia devices such as TV sets or DVD players through a dedicated VGA port.

  • It has only one USB port which means you cannot connect more external USB Devices to your machine at a time.

What you will love about it:

  • The Acer Aspire 3 Celeron Dual Core is a budget laptop made up of an attractive gunmetal grey chassis sports a textured finish, both on the lid and the interior. The plenty of poking and prodding revealed no weak spots in that frame, although the lid does bend somewhat under duress. Thanks to the neat finish that compliments the durable construction nicely.

  • Lining the edges, you’ll find a generous selection of ports. Three USB connections (including a single USB 3.0 port) mean there’s plenty of space for peripherals. There’s an HDMI connection and SD card reader, plus a neat little Ethernet port that flips open on demand.

  • One of the best features of this budget laptop is the full-sized chiclet keyboard. This stretches across a fair chunk of the chassis, which means that each key is well sized and spaced. So no crushed-up enter or cursor keys are present to ruin your touch-typing experience. There’s even room for a proper numerical keypad, although I’d have preferred a bit of a gap between that and the rest of the board.

  • The touchpad is also positioned quite far to the left of the palm-rest, which isn’t ideal for right-handed users.

  • It comes with a 15.6-inch display and has a Full HD screen, which means images are at least pleasingly crisp. Peer close enough and you’ll still spot individual pixels, but that 1920 x 1080 resolution means sharp results, whether you’re browsing your photo collection or kicking back with a flick.

  • The sound is blasted through dual speakers. It is fine for just watching some YouTube videos, but we’d recommend hooking up speakers or headphones to enjoy a movie or some tunes.

  • It is powered by Intel’s Core i3-6006U chipset, with a 2GHz clock speed. This is backed by 4GB of DDR4 RAM. This delivers you basic performance. You can happily browse the web, bash out reviews and stream media from the web, without too much of a struggle.

  • It has a battery back up of seven hours which quite enough to carry out a lot of taks which you want to do with this basic laptop.

What you may not like about it:

  • The viewing angles are incredibly narrow. Just slightly tilting the display immediately darkens the image, so you can’t see anything you’re doing.

  • The speakers are placed on the bottom of the laptop. That means any audio ends up muffled by either your desk or your lap.

  • With the Intel’s Core i3-6006U chipset you get a relatively slow performance from this device.

What you will love about it:

  • The Acer Aspire 3 Pentium Gold is a simple 15.6-inch office notebook which comes with a powerful processor, fast SSD, and reasonable price. It has a matte 15.6-inch display with a 1920x1080 native resolution.

  • The device is powerful enough for typical office applications and Internet browsing. It is powered by an Intel Core i3-8130U Kaby Lake Refresh processor. It should also be kept in mind that the performance could be improved by adding an extra RAM module in the unoccupied socket. This would not only make the system feel snappier but would also enable dual-channel memory mode, which would improve GPU performance too.

  • It comes with a 128 GB Kingston SSD. The M.2-2280 drive runs at SATA III speeds and has good transfer speeds for a device at this price point.

  • The Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles all the graphics. The onboard GPU supports DirectX 12 and runs at between 300 and 1,000 MHz. You could marginally improve graphics performance by adding a RAM module and enabling dual-channel mode.

  • The CPU and GPU combination means that the Aspire 3 can play some games smoothly, but these are limited to those with moderate hardware requirements. Even then, you will have to drop the resolution and quality for a playable experience. It is worth bearing in mind that enabling dual-channel mode would allow for an increase in refresh rates. Power-hungry games like Far Cry 5 are unplayable regardless of the memory mode though.

What you may not like about it:

  • It has dark and low contrast display.

  • The device has poor viewing angles

  • It has an average battery life of 4.5hours

  • There is no USB Type-C port present in this laptop.

What you will love about it:

  • The Asus APU Dual Core E1 allows you to do a lot more than just work. The AMD APU Dual Core E1 Processor and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, coupled with the Windows 10 Operating System, offer not only a seamless performance, but also a simplified user experience. ASUS Splendid Technology and SonicMaster address the multimedia end for you, as well, so that you can have a captivating experience while watching movies.

  • The AMD APU Dual Core E1 Processor and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM are sure to give you a seamless experience for any task that you take up - be it using multiple apps at once or switching between them.

  • You can find a local restaurant or schedule an appointment easily with Cortana - your very own digital personal assistant. It even features free automated updates and built-in security.

  • You can transfer movies that are of 2 GB to a USB drive in just about 2 seconds, thanks to the USB 3.1 (Gen 1). It also comes with the traditional USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports to keep the compatibility range wide for your USB devices.

  • The device comes with SonicMaster - a mixture of hardware, software and tuning - is designed to filter noise and improve audio clarity so you can have a gripping listening experience. While a professional Codec gives precision for the audio, the optimised amplifier, larger speakers and resonance chambers keep the audio powerful, rich in bass.

  • The best part of the device is it's elegant design. One look at it and you can't take your eyes off it - the premium brushed finish of this laptop gives it a boost of sophistication.

  • The laptop comes with Asus Splendid Technology. This technology comes with color temperature correction to reproduce colors that are rich and deep so that you can enjoy a whole new world of visuals. It comes with four visual modes, which you can access with a single click - the Vivid Mode optimizes the contrast when you are browsing through pictures or watching videos. The Eye Care Mode reduces the blue light levels and this is particularly useful when you are reading things on the screen for a long time. While the Normal Mode is tuned for daily tasks, the Manual Mode is for advanced color adjustments.

  • The Asus Eye Care present in the device serves a great purpose. The blue light emitted causes macular degeneration and retinal problems. With this mode, these blue light levels are reduced by up to 33% so you can comfortably read, while protecting your eyes from eye fatigue and other ailments.

  • This laptop's keyboard is designed such that you can comfortably type on this one-piece chiclet keyboard. The improved back assembly offers 1.8 mm of key travel and minimal key float, so your typing has a solid feel to it. Moreover, ASUS Smart Gesture Technology uses an intelligent combination of software and hardware optimisation so that the input is precise.

  • The device has Asus Ice cool technology. A unique internal design resolves uncomfortable heating issues by preventing heat build-up under the palm rest. This technology keeps the palm rest surface significantly lower than the body temperature. This layout places heat-producing components away from you, and the exceptional cooling offered by the heat pipes and vents ensure you are comfortable even for those extended hours of use.

What you may not like about it:

  • Gaming experience will be a bit lower than your usual expectations. But you need to consider that this a budget laptop.

  • Camera is also decent but not up to the mark.

  • A lot of updates will appear which you need to do for the proper functioning of the device.

What you will love about it:

  • The Asus E203NAH Celeron is designed to help you be productive all day — even when you’re on the move. This perfect balance between sensitivity and usability ensures effortless navigation with Windows apps and other features.

What you may not like about it:

  • No full HD display.

  • Average configuration.

What you will love about it:

  • The HP G6 APU Dual Core A6 comes with the quad-core AMD Llano A8-3520 CPU, running at a 1.6GHz clock speed, which can be turbo boosted and increased to 2.5GHz for added performance in single-threaded applications. Pair this with the 6GB of RAM too, meant it completed our multimedia benchmarks with an overall score of 40.

  • It is fast enough for your typical application and general web browsing too. If you plan on using more performance hogging multi-threaded applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, you should notice a significant boost over a dual-core processor when using the HP Pavilion G6.

  • The processor itself has integrated graphics buried inside, HP hasn't shied away from adding a pretty impressive dedicated mobile graphics card. The Radeon 7450M within has just 1GB of video memory but can work with CrossFire mode with the onboard GPU to create a surprisingly powerful mobile gaming combination.

  • Though considering the price at which it comes the its battery life to suffer a bit, especially considering its processor and graphics card, but the G6 coped surprisingly well, almost hitting six hours away from the mains. You’ll need to stick to light tasks, such as image editing, but unlike other quad-core laptops we’ve seen, there’s still potential for working on the move.

  • Inspite of the fact that the keyboard isn’t exactly the prettiest out there, but it does the job well. The flat keys are grouped tightly together, but because they’re full size, it didn't feel all that cramped when typing. Of course, in typical HP fashion, the function keys have been repurposed as multimedia shortcuts, but this can be disabled if you'd like.

  • It comes with a touchpad which is really great. It’s nice and sensitive enough to quickly navigate the desktop, with its raised surface making it fairly easy to find using your sense of touch alone if you’re working in the dark. Also quite handily, a double-tap to the small recessed corner disables the touchpad should you prefer to use a mouse, although this can sometimes be miss-pressed on occasion. The buttons directly below it push in rather far before they register a click, but at least they make an audible noise so you can tell when you’ve pressed them in far enough.

  • It comes with the following connectivity features- Three standard USB ports, a multiformat card reader and a DVD optical drive are of note, but there’s also audio input and output jacks and an Ethernet port, as well as HDMI and VGA video outputs too.

What you may not like about it:

  • There aren't any USB3 ports to be found here.

  • Laptop viewing angles are not so great.

  • This is not gaming or entertainment laptop. It is regular laptop. So it is not a big negative.

What you will love about it:

  • The Acer Aspire 3 APU Dual Core A4 7th Gen has a good configuration considering its low price. It serves as a very good laptop for daily use as it is more than capable of handling daily tasks. It also provides huge storage space for all the precious photos, videos and important documents. It provides an average back of 5.5 hours which is good considering the price of the laptop. The laptop is one of the low-priced laptops and is easily affordable.

  • It has a very pleasant and simple design that is quite ordinary but has enjoyable rounded edges. The lid and base are entirely plastic imitating fiberglass surface. Due to the peculiarities of the surface, fingerprints are not to be found. Despite this being a budget model that one would not normally expect to have exceptionally high build quality, we must note that the laptop has a commendable rigidity and there are no gaps to be found. When opening and closing the lid we did not observe any twists or bends. The cooling system works silently, and there are no vibrations along the body of the machine.

  • The laptop is equipped with a 15.6 inches screen and a resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels. It also has full HD LED Backlit Anti-Glare IPS Display but does not have the touch screen feature. It has an AMD Dual Core A4-9125 processor with a clock speed of 2.3GHz and integrated graphics of AMD Radeon R3. It also has a 4GB DDR4 RAM with a speed of 2400MHz.

  • It has a hard disk space of 1TB with 5,400RPM speed. The laptop is powered by a 2 cell Li-Ion battery that keeps the show running for long hours. It is able to provide a battery backup of 5.5 hours. The device is also equipped with connectivity features like WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth version 4.2. Moreover, two 3.0 USB ports, a 2.0 USB port, SD card reader and headphone and microphone jacks are provided too.

  • The device has an integrated webcam capable of recording videos up to 720 pixels. The laptop also has a dual speaker and an internal microphone. It does not have an optical drive but has a standard notebook keyboard and multi-touch enabled touchpad .

What you may not like about it:

  • Low battery runtimes.

  • Modest color gamut coverage (AUO38ED).

  • Uncomfortable viewing angles.

What you will love about it:

  • The Lenovo Ideapad 330 APU Dual Core is a great laptop loaded with a decent processor and an ample amount of RAM. The combination assures that it can handle simple multitasking. The massive storage allows to save ample amount of files and videos in it. The battery backup is good for daily use. However, a full HD display would have made it a perfect option to go for.

  • The device flaunts a 15.6-inch HD LED Backlit display with a screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 Pixels. The laptop is available in a well designed Onxy black coloured body which weighs around 1.3Kg. This laptop produces scintillating visuals. And, combined with Dolby Audio, it dramatically enhances the way you experience entertainment. This way, every time you turn up the volume, you'll be gifted with audio that is free of distortion, enabling you to hear every detail.

  • To ensure that this laptop stays protected from damage and wear and tear, it has been designed with a special protective PC ABS Painting Finish. It also features rubber detailing on the bottom to maximise ventilation and to extend component-life.

  • It is is equipped with a 1TB hard disk which revolves at a speed of 5,400RPM. The overall performance of the laptop is managed by a 2.6GHz AMD Dual-Core A6 9225 processor coupled with a 4GB of DDR4 RAM and an AMD Radeon R4 graphics unit.

  • This laptop supports 1x1 AC Wi-Fi that lets you enjoy your data connection two times the speed two times faster for a better Web-surfing experience. It is also equipped with a versatile USB Type-C connecting port that helps connect devices such as USBs, gaming controllers, external storage devices, and so on. This laptop facilitates the fast transfer of data (at up to 10 Gbps) that is up to two times faster than that of USB 3.0 technology.

  • With frequent use, laptops may face excessive strain on their hinges, which hinders maneuverability. This Lenovo laptop is equipped with a flexible 180-degree hinge that allows easy maneuverability while reducing excessive strain on the hinge - preventing damage to the display.

  • It is also armed with a 0.3MP webcam by which you can record video and assists to facilitate video calling. The dual speakers are present as the audio device which outputs crisp and clear audio. A Touchpad with Multi-touch Gesture Support and a Standard Notebook Keyboard are the available input peripherals.

What you may not like about it:

  • Disappointing performance.

  • Too few USB ports, all on one side.
